About Me
Anne Hellstrom, M.S.Ed., LPC
Owner & Therapist, AdvantEdge Counseling & Consulting, LLC.
I graduated with my Bachelors in Psychology from Kent State University in 1994 and completed my Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Community Counseling from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1997. Over the past 20 years, I have worked within the field of mental health and trauma with all ages in a variety of settings, including adolescent residential treatment, community mental health, non-profit and community based agencies, as well as private practice.
In 2004, I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and found a tremendous shift in my clients' progress in treatment. The length of time in treatment was considerably shorter and clients experienced a higher level of effectiveness within many areas of their lives. Therefore, EMDR therapy became the focus of my work with clients who have had traumatic experiences in their lives, whether it was childhood abuse, domestic violence, single-incident traumas, such as car accidents or a death of a loved one.
In addition to being a therapist, I have been a Clinical Supervisor for 15 years providing clinical supervision and consultation to therapists and master’s level clinical interns. I am certified as an EMDR Therapist and became an EMDR Approved Consultant in 2014 giving me the opportunity to consult and supervise EMDR-trained therapists seeking certification.
In addition to private practice, I am currently the Clinical Program Manager at the Crisis Center, a non-profit agency that serves victims of domestic violence and child witnesses in Castle Rock, Colorado.
